Merry Christmas!

It's Christmas!  I love Christmas!

We've had a good day.  We slept until around 10:00, had cinnamon rolls, and opened presents.  Garrett's very favorite present was his present from Santa - a Star Wars Millenium Falcon ship that has sound effects and plays the Star Wars theme song.  He loved all of his other presents too, even though he got bored opening them after a while.  He wanted to play with each toy as he opened it, so Carl had to open the last few with him.

After that we went to see "The Princess and the Frog".  It was really cute.  The rest of the day we were pretty lazy.  We played the wii a lot, and played with Garrett's toys.  My parents made yummy Christmas dinner.  We're sleeping over tonight too, and we'll go home tomorrow.

Merry Christmas!

Christmas Eve

We always sleep at my parents' house on Christmas Eve.  It started the first year Carl and I were married and I couldn't imagine waking up without my parents Christmas morning, so we slept over.  It's been a fun tradition.  We pack up our presents, head over to my parents', and add our presents under their tree.  Garrett knows Santa visits him at Grandma and Grandpa's, and it's been fun for him too.

This year Garrett wanted to put out milk and cookies for Santa, so after we drove around to see the lights on Christmas street, and he opened his Christmas Eve present (Jammies!  What else?!) we made cookies and left them out for Santa.

Visiting Santa

We finally made it to visit Santa.  Garrett did get to sit on Santa's lap at my family Christmas party, but we had been wanting to take him to see the Santa in the little house in Sugarhouse.  I used to go to see that Santa when I was little and we didn't make it last year, so I definitely wanted to go this year.

By the time we got there it was close to closing time, and there was a huge line.  It was snowing and freezing outside, but Garrett didn't mind.  He liked playing in the snow.

When we finally got to see Santa, Garrett didn't want to sit on his lap at first.  He finally agreed to, and told Santa he wanted a teddy bear and a new train for Christmas.  He's so cute!

Here are Garrett's Christmas pictures from this year.  He was really good for the pictures.  Good job Garrett!

Gingerbread House

Today we decorated a gingerbread house.  We decided to keep it simple and made it out of graham crackers instead of actually baking gingerbread or buying a gingerbread kit.  It turned out cute, and Garrett had fun eating all the candy while he decorated.

Christmas Traditions

One of our favorite Christmas traditions is going to the Festival of Trees. It's so fun to see so much creativity in the decorations on the trees. We went tonight and we loved it! One special tree we had to see was a Star Wars tree that we heard about. Once we found it, Garrett just kept staring at it. He wanted it to be a store so that we could buy all of the Star Wars toys off of the tree. He even planted himself in front of it just marveling at all of the toys. Once we moved on to the other trees, Garrett was done. He kept saying, "I want to go home" over and over again. So, we decided to leave. I just don't think the other trees could live up to the excitement of that Star Wars tree. Other than that tree, I think Garrett's favorite thing was the food. He was eating practically the entire time we were there. With the trees, the decorations, scones and music, it really put us in the mood for the Christmas holiday!

Happy December!

I'm excited Christmas season is upon us!  This year we decided to put up the Christmas tree early.  I know a lot of people put theirs up right after Thanksgiving, but we usually don't get ours decorated that early.  Garrett had been talking about Christmas trees and Christmas decorations, so we decided it would be fun to do it now.  This is the first year he has participated in decorating the tree.  He helped with the lights and the garland and put quite a few ornaments on.  He loved it.  It's nice to have it feeling Christmasy in our home already!

Busy Day

We've had a busy day today.  First, Carl took Garrett to Discovery while I went to a movie with my friend, then Carl went to watch the U/BYU game at a friend's house while Garrett and I went to Garrett's friend Kyndall's birthday party, and then finally we all went to my annual family Christmas party, where we had a lot of fun and took a lot of pictures.

Santa and Mrs. Claus were at the Christmas party, and Garrett would only sit on Santa's lap if I held on to him.  Santa gave Garrett a Star Wars toy that he really loves.  We then sang Christmas carols, and made scrapbook pages for my grandma.  It was a lot of fun.

On the way home, we stopped to look at some Christmas lights.  We had a good day, but it's definitely time for bed now!
