Carnival

Neighborhood carnivals are the best.  Games, bouncy house slides, horse rides, free food and snow cones.  Garrett even got his face painted and Carl went down the slide.  I think Carl liked the slide because he kept asking Garrett if he wanted his daddy to go down the slide with him. :)

Birthday Girl

Yesterday was my birthday, and we went to Gardner Village to do a little shopping and go to dinner.  Garrett was being so adorable.  He kept posing for pictures, which he normally never does, and being really sweet to me.  He kept calling me birthday girl.  He would call me mom, and then correct himself and change it to birthday girl.  He's so cute.  He definitely helped make my birthday wonderful!

Neighbors

We have the best neighbors.  They are so nice.  One of our neighbors is named Susan and she has a cute little dog named Molly.  Garrett and Susan have become such good friends.  Susan keeps inviting Garrett to help her in the garden, or have a popsicle with her, or go for a walk.  He absolutely loves her.  It's so sweet.  Molly really loves Garrett too, and he loves playing fetch with her.

Yesterday, Susan invited Garrett over to paint a rock to keep on the porch or in a garden.  He and I both painted one.  First Garrett painted a swamp (painted it all green), and then covered the swamp in water.  So he ended up with an all blue rock.  Afterward Carl came home, so we all sat on the grass together and watched Garrett practice his cartwheels and handstands.  And then Garrett jumped all over Carl, which is one of his favorite things to do.  Poor Carl.  I'm glad Garrett is a little gentler with me.

Family Photo Day

I am working on an adoption blog, and I needed some more photos of all three of us.  So today we went to the International Peace Gardens with my parents to take pictures.  I had been there a long time ago, but I didn't remember how beautiful it is.  The pictures went okay.  Garrett saw the playground as we were driving in, and he wanted to do that first.  It took a while to get him to cooperate, and then Carl took him to the playground afterward.  Here are some of the best shots.

Driving Is Dangerous

This weekend Carl left to run an errand. I told him to be careful, as I always do. Garrett said, “Bye Daddy, don’t be careful.” I told Garrett not to say that, and that Daddy should be careful, because driving is dangerous. Garrett replied that driving isn’t dangerous, in a tone that implied I didn’t know what I was talking about. I explained to him that driving is extremely dangerous, and that people have to be careful because they can get in car accidents and be killed.

So the next day, Carl left to return a movie, and I told him bye and to be careful. Garrett said, “Bye Daddy, don’t get killed.”

Hilarious.
